Well.... my heroines are usually pretty strong and opinionated, they make people respect them. No weak willed, silly girls for me (but I do give them a chance to grow a backbone before giving the book up). My heroes are generally strong, too, yes, but they'd never try to force themselves or their will on their heroines. They respect each other, they're equals. They are a team. And they have lots of fun teasing each other.
Q: Define what characteristics your favorite books share. Do they all have a kick ass heroine or is the hot love interest the Alpha Male?

But it's not unheard of for me to favorite a book just because I like the hero better than I do the heroine. LOL
:P
What about you?

Hi! New follower.
ReplyDeleteOooh, liking a book because you like the hero? Who cares about the heroine?! I'm much the same from time to time! I'm not shallow, honest! ;) Occasionally I like the heroine but hate the hero - but I admit that that's much less frequent.

Have a great weekend!
Oh if I hate the heroine I can't really like the book.. I am ok with a lot of parameters but if a character is unlikeable, I just get turned off.. Not matter how great the surrounding characters are..

I can stick with a book if I don't care for the heroine but I'm less likely to pick up the next book if there is no potential for growth.
ReplyDeleteold follower.
I love books with strong heroines and have a really hard time with wimpy girls in books.
ReplyDeleteHi, New follower!
ReplyDeleteStrong girls = must!
XOXO
I tend to like the hero over the heroine too! I easily fall in love with book guys =) I also like that you mentioned the respect. I normally like the bad boy in the book, but only if he shows the heroine the respect she deserves. That's a must!

Great answer! I totally agree with you concerning the heroines - they've got to be strong. I do like a slight vulnerability to my characters too, though. :)
ReplyDeleteGreat answer!

I totally agree with you about needing a strong female character. But sometimes I love a book more based on the awesome guy characters. I have totally fallen for so many guys in books. =D

Haha, I oddly tend to like the male characters more than females in books. The girls always find a way to irk me! Thanks for stopping by, I'm an old follower!
