Q: Worst cover? What is the worst cover of a book that you’ve read and loved?

The Heart Of Hannen

Christine, a troubled teen with a dark past, is miserable in her small town. Shadowed in shame, she feels destined to live her lonely life as an outcast. She has no idea that her true destiny lies in a different town, in a different world; a most brutal world called Atriia. There she learns the true meaning of misery, the true meaning of loneliness, the true meaning of shame. But she also learns that her bravery is boundless as she battles against a formidable foe, a dark shadow that tries to smother the land. And in the arms of a most unlikely candidate, she also learns the true meaning of love. He is Hannen Fallier, the one they call the foul fraigen dropper, revered by men for his fearless feats, but looked upon by women with open disdain. With a face horribly mauled, he hides behind a mask of shame, deeming himself unworthy of love. That he would seek acceptance from Christine is irony in its purest form. That he would seek her love . . . the ultimate betrayal.

This book is crazy, but very, VERY good. The plot is creative, the characters are complex, the ending is surprising... the cover is unfortunate, though. :) LOL. 

For a first book, it's incredible. It certainly deserves more readers.

Not really, no. LOL. It's usually the other way around for me, actually. But I have bought some books with really horrible reviews that I ended up enjoying immensely. So... go figure. :)

Q: Do you read one book at a time or do you switch back and forth between two or more?

I usually switch back and forth between a few, but when I have a 'free' day I like to grab a book I'm really looking forward to and finish it in one sitting (if it turns out to be just as good as I hoped, that is).

Q: What is the best book you’ve read in the last month? What is the worst book you’ve read in the last month?

 

 

Oh, the best one was, no doubt about it, Monstrous Beauty by Elizabeth Fama. It was fantastic. It has been quite a while since a book really blew my mind like this one did. I can't stress how absolutely amazing it was. :)

The worst was probably Burn by Heath Gibson. I just didn't care much for anything about it. The plot, the characters, the writing... it was not for me at all.

Q: Have you ever looked at book’s cover and thought, This is going to be horrible? But, was instead pleasantly surprised? Show us the cover and tell us about the book.


Indeed, I have. I won this book from a Goodreads giveaway and didn't even know it, so when I got it in the mail I was... surprised by the cover. I remember liking the blurb, but the cover threw me off a bit. It took me a while to start it, but when I did, I just couldn't stop! LOL. It was great! I actually gave it 5 stars! :D

If you like fantasy, dramatic romances and alternate realities, it's really worth giving it a try. Too bad not many people have read it. :(

Terrible cover, lovely story. :) It looks like an old book, but it's actually from 2000! O.o

Q: What book would you love to see made into a movie or television show and do you have actors/actresses in mind to play the main characters?


Thank goodness Harry Potter, The Game of Thrones and The Hunger Games were made into movies/series. I really wanted to see "for real". LOL. But I would LOVE for these books to be made into movies:




The Sterkarm Handshake would make for a great science fiction movie, with time-travel, intrigue and romance. 

Acheron, one of my 'forever favorites', would probably have to be part of a TV series, since it's part of a book series (duh! LOL), with tons of special effects, leather clothing, fighting, blood, historical settings and romance. *-*  (update: I have just found out that Amber Entertainment has signed a partnership with the author Sherrilyn Kenyon to produce films, television and webisodes based on her books!  The first project planned is based on the "Chronicles of Nick," a young adult spin-off from her Dark Hunter series. GAAAAAAAAAH!! Who will play my dear Acheron??? He better be perfect. LOL).

And pretty much anything by MaryJanice Davidson would make for something highly entertaining, be it movie or TV series. I especially like the first story in the Dead and Loving It anthology. Lots of yummy werewolves, incredibly humorous quotes and steamy scenes. ;P

I'm not very good with really picturing the characters (I just like to imagine them), so I won't try to cast anyone in particular. LOL. Though I would love to see Hugh Laurie, Chris Hemsworth, Jason Momoa, Martin Henderson and/or Eric Dane in any of those 'projects'. ;) 

Oh, and for the girls, Alexis Bledel, Brooke Elliott, Rachel Nichols, etc.

Q: BeefcakeandBabes Asks: I like unique names for characters and am looking forward to coming up with some when I start writing. What’s the most unique character name you’ve come across?

I couldn't waste this opportunity to mention Acheron ("Then he shall be named Acheron, for the river of woe. Like the river of the Underworld, his journey will be long, dark, and enduring. He will be able to give life and to take it. He will travel through life alone and abandoned, ever seeking kindness and ever finding cruelty. May the gods have mercy on you, little one. No one else ever will."). So sad... oh, boy, I just love him so much! *-*

I'm really crazy about the sidhe names in Merry Gentry's books, too. There's Galen, Mistral, Amatheon, Adair, Caswyn, Sholto, Nicca, Andais, Blaec, Usna, Abeloec, Nerys, Taranis, Fflur, Maelgwn... most of them have Galic roots, and they all fit the characters perfectly. I think they're very pretty. Hard to pronounce, but pretty nonetheless. :)

Oh, and there's 'Hannen'. It's probably one of the weirdest (first) names I 've ever seen. He's from The Heart of Hannen, which is a pretty good book.

Q: What would your prefer: reading your favorite book over and over again until you got sick of it OR reading 100s of mediocre books? And why?

Oh, I'd rather have ONE good book than 100s of bad ones. After I tried all of the bad ones (just to make sure they were really mediocre), I'd probably start to pull out my hair out of desperation. LOL. So, quality over quantity, for sure. ;)

Q: Define what characteristics your favorite books share. Do they all have a kick ass heroine or is the hot love interest the Alpha Male?

Well.... my heroines are usually pretty strong and opinionated, they make people respect them. No weak willed, silly girls for me (but I do give them a chance to grow a backbone before giving the book up). My heroes are generally strong, too, yes, but they'd never try to force themselves or their will on their heroines. They respect each other, they're equals. They are a team. And they have lots of fun teasing each other.

But it's not unheard of for me to favorite a book just because I like the hero better than I do the heroine. LOL

Q: Which book genre do you avoid at all costs and why?

I'm not really a big fan of nonfiction. I guess it's because when I read, I usually want to read about something fantastical, not ordinary or from everyday life. Obviously, there might be exceptions, but those are the ones I normally skip when browsing bookstores.

Q: What’s the craziest thing you’ve ever done to get your hands on any particular book?


Well, I suppose this will be a boring post for all of you super crazy fans, but as I have no access to book signings and/or huge book events, I'm afraid I haven't really done anything that crazy to get a book.

Unless you consider harassing my country's Customs's call center in order to get more info on where my books are going (they're not reaching me, that's for sure. >.>'). Oh, and begging people to swap certain books with me.
I usually do more crazy things to get people to read books. LOL


But I'm curious, what's your answer? ;)

On my "shelves" I have something around 210 physical books I have yet to read. And my Kindle holds at least 510 unread items. O.o 
That's why one of my New Year's Resolutions was to NOT buy any more books this year, not until I'm done with the ones I already own. LOL I'm kind of a compulsive book buyer...

Q: The New Year is here — and everyone wants to know your New Years Blogging Resolution! What are you going to try to revise, revamp and redo for 2012 on your blog?

Well, my blog is barely 1 1/2 months old, so I think I'll just do my best to keep it up and try to make it better with every post. I'll try to write more reviews, read faster and always keep the blog updated. :)

Q:  If you had to spend eternity inside the pages of a book which book would you choose and why?

Oh, no doubt about it. I'd choose Acheron, by Sherrilyn Kenyon. ;) 

If I had to spend eternity stuck in a book, at least in this one I'd have someone absolutely gorgeous (and kind, funny, cute, who loves manga, movies, music just like me) to look at, and lots of adventure and danger to deal with. Things would pretty much NEVER get boring. ;P

Sure, I'd have to deal with bloodthirsty daimons, pissed off Dark-Hunters and insane Greek Gods and Goddesses, but Acheron would be so worth it. *-*

What about you? Would book would you choose?
