#FF - Feature and Follow #18

FF 2012 Feature & Follow #80

Feature and Follow is hosted by Alison Can Read and Parajunkee's View.

Q: What is one book that you would be nervous to see a movie adaption of because you think the movie could never live up to the book?

There are many, many books I would be nervous to see adapted as movies... but I think it would be especially hard for Laurell K Hamilton's book adaptations to live up to our imagination. Anita Blake would be hell to cast and really work. Merry Gentry would need tons of special effects and seriously talented hot men.
These are things I'd love to see, but, at the same time, dread to see. Does that make sense? LOL.

What was your answer?

  2. Hey, just stopping by to follow you back! I liked the first couple Anita Blake books, and there's some potential for a good movie there. But yeah, who to cast? That's a tough one.

  3. Oh yeah! The Anita Blake books would be cool. She would be a difficult heroine to bring to life. I've never read the Merry Gentry ones.

  4. I totally get what you're saying! I haven't read the Anita Blake series but I'd imagine it would be almost impossible to cast her!

  7. The Anita Blake series, especially the later ones would have to be very hard R's. I'd love to see HBO do them.

  8. I think it does make sense :) On the one hand everyone is always so excited when there's a movie planned for a book, but most of the time we get disapppointed because the result doesn't meet our expectations (or that is at least how it is for me ;))

  9. For me it's Chaos Walking. The sci-fi elements make me nervous.

  10. Thanks for stopping by! I still have yet to read your choices, but they are on my shelf. I think once there are too many special effects needed it looses its luster.

  13. you're right the two of them would be very difficult. mainly because it's been a long time since we have our own idea about the characters.

  14. I'm one of the very few people who haven't read the books yet, but in general I think it's hard to do UF and PNR books justice. Most of the times they just butcher them. :/
