Feature&Follow #13

FF 2012 Feature & Follow #80
Feature&Follow is hosted by Alison Can Read and Parajunkee's View.

Q: Have you ever looked at book’s cover and thought, This is going to be horrible? But, was instead pleasantly surprised? Show us the cover and tell us about the book.

Indeed, I have. I won this book from a Goodreads giveaway and didn't even know it, so when I got it in the mail I was... surprised by the cover. I remember liking the blurb, but the cover threw me off a bit. It took me a while to start it, but when I did, I just couldn't stop! LOL. It was great! I actually gave it 5 stars! :D

Heart Of Hannen
The Heart of Hannen by Fawn Bonning(click to read review)

If you like fantasy, dramatic romances and alternate realities, it's really worth giving it a try. Too bad not many people have read it. :(

Oh, and this one:

Sixpence Bride

Terrible cover, lovely story. :) It looks like an old book, but it's actually from 2000! O.o

What was your answer?

Umm...yeah. That cover is pretty terrible. :P I keep having to scroll up and look at it over and over again because of its badness. Heheh.

I read the synopsis and review though and it sounds like a great story that I would definitely love! I may have to give this one a shot. :)

    My FF is here.

  4. Haha, both of those covers are hilarious! The second one reminds me of most ridiculous romance novel covers. Sometimes it can be fun to go through the store and find the best ones. :P

  5. Wow, that first cover is horrendous! And that second one totally looks like it's from at least the 80s or earlier...

Thanks so much for stopping by my blog and for following! I'm looking forward to reading more from you!

  6. This question is making me realize how much I do judge a book by its cover because I wouldn't pick these up without a recommendation.

Thanks for stopping by. I followed back.

I agree, those definitely aren't good covers!

  9. Wow, that is just hideous. It's like the author decided to have a teen wannabe cartoonist draw it! Hilarious!

  11. Yeah the covers are very retro and kinda odd! Although I admit that I do totally LOVE my retro covers of L.J. Smith's books! I have the Vampire Diaries ones and the old omnibus of The Forbidden Game! Which the cover was so odd that I picked it up and after reading the cover back headed for the register!!

  12. I don't mind retro-oddish covers, if they're done right. These just seem a bit off-putting, in a way. I'm just simply not crazy about them, not to mention the fact that I just don't read romance for romance sake. But, It's good to see that you really enjoyed them. :)

  17. LOL, that first cover is really, really horrible. No more of those please haha. The second one, not that great either, but considering the genre and year (Winner of 1999 Golden Heart) I can overlook the craziness ;-)

  20. Definitely odd first cover, doesn't quite catch my attention. However those are just my genres you mentioned!:) So I'll check it out. I had no idea if you won something on goodreads it was that easy. I need to go do some looking now!

I can't believe the first cover is from 2000. It does have this bright, retro look. Interesting.

Thanks for stopping by my site by the way.:)

  21. My gosh, I definitely would have never picked them up! 0_0 But it's always nice when you like a book way more than you thought it would, right? It makes them special :)

Thank you for stopping by, following you back! <3
