#FF - Feature and Follow #28

Feature and Follow is hosted by Alison Can Read and Parajunkee's View.
Lovely button by Reading Into Hiding.

Q: Do your reading habits change based on your mood? Do you read a certain genre if you are feeling depressed or happy?
I think so, yes. Sometimes I just have to read about someone with a worse life than mine (so apocalyptic dystopians are usually the right choice), or with a better love life than mine (some romance, then, be it YA, adult, contemporary...) or with a whole other kind of reality (here comes the historicals/time-travel fiction and/or anything set in an interesting foreign country) and so on. :)
But when it comes to review books, I just read them in the order of publication, regardless of the current mood. LOL. And, yes, I suppose it does affect my reviews, sometimes.

Are your reading habits based on your moods?

  8. It's interesting to see how much people's moods affect what they read. I'm so schedule oriented that I have a set list of books I read every month, but I can choose what order I read them in. Generally my mood doesn't affect my opinion of a book, but hype I've heard around the blogosphere does. :/

    Thanks for sharing! :)

  12. Damn! If I only could! Reading review books as they come, I mean. I can be so picky when choosing a book - especially if I'm not sure how it will mae me feel. And that leads to a huge TBR pile :/

  15. Hey, thanks for stopping by! I love your banner and yeah, I can see how reading a dystopian story will make someone feel better about their life. Maybe I'll give it a try. I'm a new follower.

  16. But when it comes to review books, I just read them in the order of publication, regardless of the current mood.

Wish I was like that. I've found that when I read a review book and I'm not in the mood it gets a worse review :(

  18. One of the main reasons why I turn down ARCs is because I don't do well with having to read books on someone else's time LOL. I read whatever I want to read whenever I feel like reading it. I do feel like a book is better and more enjoyable when you're in the right mind frame to enjoy it :0)

Thanks for stopping by my FF. Followed you back via GFC.

  19. Sorry how late this is! Anyways, yes, I also agree that it's sometimes very refreshing to see how messed up peoples' lives are compared to yours...a guilty pleasure.
