Review

       So... just by looking at the cover you can tell this is not going to be your ordinary book. And, well, it suits different tastes. I, myself, have been known to enjoy all kinds of sick perverted weird unusual genres/characters/plots/body parts. Which is why I decided to give 'Womb of the New World' (love the title!) a try. :) At first I thought they were demons or something, but they're actually cyborgs.

       I won't get very deep into the story of the Wroks, and the post-nuclear world setting much, because it's well enpugh hinted at in the synopsis. What I can say is: this is the kind of crazy science fiction I find most interesting: when machines and humans get too close. How can something inorganic want to be, and feel, human?

      I really, really enjoyed this quick, hot read! Imogenne was a different kind of heroine (not just physiologically. LOL). She was strong, clever and confident in her sexuality.That alone is a refreshing view, when compared to the thousands of virgins in romance these days... *rolls eyes*. The scenes of her with Rolley, the guy she "had some fun with" first, were pretty hot. But the things that happened after, with Yoevin... oh, boy.

      My only problem with it was that it was too short, and the explanations were kind of vague, but I liked how it ended, even if it was a bit predictable.

      The writing was very good, very fluid, with two different POV's. I would definitely read more from this author. Hopefully it'll become a series? :)

Warning: if you're not very open-minded, you should know there are some seriously hot scenes involving forked tongues and extra appendages... (fun! LOL)

My Review

Katie is a talented graphic designer. She's funny, she's smart and she's pretty... but her extra pounds make her feel very self-conscious.

When her recurrent "friend with benefits", Freddie, tells her he's moving to another state, she finds herself in need of a new 'fuck buddy'... and she wants Brad, the new IT manager at her company.

And Brad wants her, too. He asks her out for lunch. They talk, have lots of fun together, discover many things in common and decide to go out again, this time for dinner. After a lovely dinner out, things start to get really hot. For one night, Katie forgets about her restraints about her weight and has fun. And really great sex... but with the next morning comes the light of the sun and the reality sinks in. He's incredibly handsome and she's overweight.

Katie starts to push him away, no matter how much it hurts her. She goes out dancing to try and have some fun, but comes upon him kissing Regina, the evil marketing manager that always treats her like a zero and bothers her about her weight. She's devastated and leaves, but her best friend, Bibi, goes to deal with Brad, telling him about how much of an idot he is, about Katie seeing him with Regina, and that she loves him. Brad goes after Katie to explain that the other woman came on to him out of nowhere and to tell her he loves her.

It was nice to read about a real woman with a real body for once. It's a very short story, but it was interesting and certainly hot. There were a few editorial mistakes but nothing that got in the way of the story, but what did bother me was how fast the characters were to say 'I love you'... but that's usually how it goes with most romance novels, I guess.

Chubby Girl Hot! makes for a nice, light and quick read for before bed or to just pass the time. The story continues in  Chubby Girl's Vacation and Chubby Girl's Wedding.

My Review:



First of all, this book includes explicit sex scenes and so it is not recommended for those under 18 years of age. So, with that out of the way...


The book starts with one of the many lascivous dreams Olivia, the Countess of March, has been having. And the main star is always the gorgeous rakehell Tristan, the Earl of Newcastle.


Olivia is suffering from what she calls 'amatory deficiency'. She yearns for a lover's hot touch and caress. All the things she's been hearing about in the ladies' retiring rooms. She craves and fantasizes for the attention and pleasure her sick, older husband hasn't been able to give her. She also regrets marrying him only to please her parents and to make their dying wish come true.


During her first dinner party, organized to celebrate her husband's recovery from a recent illness, she gets to meet Lord Tristan Newcastle. The tension becomes obvious and the sparks start to fly. After a brief rendezvous in the gardens they realize they cannot deny their desires anymore.


Olivia's husband, Henry, falls ill yet again. As he lays in bed dying, she receives a note from Tristan. It's an invitation for the Lady Seductress's Ball. The perfect place to enjoy any and all libidinous adventures, "where clothing is but a waste"...


Let me tell you something. This book made me crave quite a few things... LOL, including strawberries and honey. ;P


I really enjoyed the writing and how easily it flowed. The scenes were very hot, without being too much, and I liked the way romance blossomed from all that lust. You also get to see the couple's POVs, which is always nice.


What bothered me a bit (but not overly much, mind you), was that, given the time period the story was set in, there were a few words and expressions that didn't quite fit.
If you overlook it, you'll enjoy it immensely. It doesn't get in the way, really, but I've been reading a lot of historical romances lately, so I couldn't help but notice.
Yeah, I'm annoying like that.

Oh, by the way, the summary gives you the idea that the heroine was a virgin (which irks me tremendously. Why do all heroines HAVE to be virgins? Geez... talk about stereotypes! Not only in historicals, but also in contemporary romance! Do women like to think/remember about losing their virginity EVERYTIME they read a book? o.O But I digress.)
Anyway, as it turns out, she was NOT! Okay, maybe she was a virgin to good sex, but not literally a virgin (she WAS married, after all). Thank goodness. LOL

Funny, hot and sad stories make this book a refreshing new kind of read.

With sometimes shocking twists (and language), but quite realistic themes and curious views of relationships, it was a very interesting book. There is something for everyone.

I especially enjoyed all the free, sure-of-themselves heroines.

Contains explicit sex scenes, interracial relations, heterosexual/bisexual/homosexual.

My Review:


How very disappointing. It saddens me to say it, but I expected SO much more of this book. From book 1 I was entranced with Lyon's playfulness with women and his brothers, his smart remarks and boldness, not to mention hotness... so I was really looking forward to this one, but the Lyon in this book was NOTHING like the Lyon from 'Nicholas' and 'Raine'. He was so... forgettable. He didn't come out as the pleasant, cute and impossible little brother that could annoy his older siblings AND drive all women crazy that we've been introduced to in the previous books.

What happened, Ms. Elizabeth Amber? I'm giving it three stars, but it was more like 2 1/2, I'm very sorry to say. :((
And Juliette was also very annoying. Weak hero (and I don't mean just his physical state in the book) and even weaker heroine... I'm afraid the cover is the best thing about this book. I thought this one would become my 'new love', but 'Raine' is still my favorite book in the series. Oh, and something that hasn't been explained in the books: why is it that Lyon had to keep sending women away from him in Paris? He said it was 'out of the ordinary' himself...
